Many software architects and other change agents often face unvoiced resistance in their organisations, often without understanding where the resistance comes from.
This session introduces a a surprisingly light way of examining our combined stances towards the behavior we encounter in the workplace. So many meaningful connections get lost because of the way we respond to the behavior of others. Little annoyances we keep to ourselves, because we want to maintain our niceness. But those little annoyances turn into huge elephants if we are not dealing with them. And when elephants appear in the room constructive collaboration becomes hard and sometimes our effectiveness turns into negative.
What if we were able to understand each other’s responses to our behavior without having to deal with primary emotions? What if there was a playful way to deal with those elephants, so we can start to understand better what was not being said until now? There is. It is called Tolerance poker.
In this session I will explain the Acceptance Tolerance model, but more importantly, we will hands-on play with the model, to instantly understand the use and importance of it.
